Introduction and Its Compliance
RNI (Registrar of Newspapers for India) registration is a mandatory formality under Press and Registration of Books Act, 1867 of India and it applies to all types of publishers of the newspapers including individuals, HUF, Partnership firm, company. This is granted and published by the Registrar of Newspapers for India (RNI), a department working under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. It consists of a series of phases that includes title checking, publisher's declaration and deposit of the first issue. Professionals Law provides efficient assistance at each stage of the registration process, from first time publishers seeking registration or publications considering expansion of its tele commercial activities, ensuring that the requirements of the Act are met and the registration process with the RNI is seamless.
Why It Is Needed
It is also obligatory for those starting or continuing publication of newspapers and periodicals in India. Such practice, if operated, is unauthorised under Indian laws. It verifies the title, ownership, authenticity of the Print Publication before making the Ad booking and making payment for the Ad and gives an assurance and confidence to the Advertiser about the publication. It also minimizes redundancy of publication names and helps comply with the government's content policy. Complementing the role of a publisher, Professionals Law manages title verification, declaration submission, RNI office coordination and ultimately the acquisition of the certificate, assisting clients in saving time and avoiding rejection or legal hiccups.
